Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of the HomeTaste app and website (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. What HomeTaste is (and isn’t)
HomeTaste is a marketplace that helps home cooks (“cooks”) offer food to people nearby (“buyers”). HomeTaste is only the platform. We are not the seller, we do not cook, prepare, handle, or inspect any food, and we are not a party to the agreement between a buyer and a cook. Any sale of food is a contract directly between the buyer and the cook.
2. No online payments
HomeTaste does not take payments and charges no commission on orders. Buyers pay cooks directly in cash at handoff. We never ask for card or bank details. Any dispute about money is between the buyer and the cook.
3. Eligibility and your account
You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. Keep your login details secure; you are responsible for activity on your account. Your reputation and history are tied to your account, so it stays with you across sign-ins.
4. If you cook
By publishing a drop, you confirm that you:
- prepare food in line with all applicable food-safety and hygiene laws, and complete any registration your local authority requires;
- complete our self-certification honestly;
- declare allergens accurately for every item — this is mandatory and is critical to buyers’ safety;
- describe your food, prices, quantities, and pickup/delivery arrangements accurately; and
- are solely responsible for the food you make and sell.
5. If you buy
- Check the allergen and ingredient information, and ask the cook if you are unsure — home kitchens are not commercial kitchens and may handle many allergens.
- Turn up for your reservation and pay the agreed amount in cash.
- Repeated cancellations or no-shows affect your reputation and may lead to a temporary suspension.
6. Food safety and allergies
Food is prepared by cooks in home kitchens. HomeTaste does not verify, inspect, or guarantee the safety, quality, or allergen accuracy of any food. Allergen and ingredient information comes from the cook. You rely on that information and on your own judgement at your own risk. If you have a serious allergy, take extra care and speak to the cook directly.
7. Reputation, cancellations and disputes
We provide tools such as reputation counters, cancellation windows, no-show marking, and suspensions to keep the marketplace fair. We may apply these automatically. We are not obliged to mediate disputes between buyers and cooks, though we may act on serious reports at our discretion.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the Service, including not to:
- post false, misleading, unlawful, or unsafe listings;
- sell anything illegal, or food you are not permitted to sell;
- harass, defraud, or endanger other users;
- attempt to bypass safety, reputation, or capacity controls, or access the Service in unauthorised ways.
9. Suspension and termination
You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms or use the Service in a way that harms other users or the platform.
10. Disclaimers and liability
The Service is provided “as is”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, HomeTaste is not liable for the acts, omissions, food, or conduct of any cook or buyer, or for loss arising from transactions between users. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law (for example, for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud).
11. Changes
We may update these terms. When we make a significant change, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, unless mandatory local law says otherwise.
